Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), the international honor society of professional counseling, recently celebrated their events during the past year and a held a ceremony for new members. This year Taria Booker was the president and Christina Dillon was the vice-president of EKU's chapter.

EKU Graduate class: Mindfulness-Based Practices for Counselors and Clients

Mindfulness-Based Practices for Counselors and Clients (COU 865), a new graduate class, was offered by EKU’s Dr. Carol Sommer as an option in the master’s level clinical mental health and school counseling programs in Spring 2020. This innovative course was especially appropriate for the times as a world-wide pandemic unfolded.

Natalie Carr and Raymond Causey, graduate students in EKU’s Counselor Education Program, were inducted into the Epsilon Kappa Upsilon Chapter of the internationally prestigious Chi Sigma Iota in a virtual Pinning Ceremony on November 30.

Are you Interested in Option 6 - School Counseling?

Many current educators contact the office regarding "Option 6" for school counseling.   The requirements are strict and established by the State.  To qualify you must complete the following items:

1. Be currently enrolled in a School Counseling Master's Program

2. Complete all content courses.

3. Complete Practicum in School Counseling.

One of the most common questions in our office is, "How do I request an override?"  It's very easy.   Following these simple steps: 

1.  Contact the instructor to request permission to be in the course.
