Adventure-Based Counseling Students Conquer Indian Staircase!

500+ foot Indian Staircase in the Red River Gorge

Students of the new Adventure-Based Counseling course prepare to scale 500+ foot Indian Staircase in the Red River Gorge. Front row: Taylor Dantes, Sherry Cahill, Margaret Elkins. Back row: Stella Gibson, Amanda Smith, Shavonna Hatton, Marketta Ray, Alison Johnson, Katie Morgan.

The new Adventure-Based Counseling course has clinical mental health and school counseling students testing their limits and challenging their fears as they learn how to facilitate this highly active and interactive group counseling approach that builds upon reconnecting people with nature, building upon strengths, and stimulating immediate emotions for individual and group growth. Dr. Charles Myers of EKU’s counseling program designed the Adventure-Based Counseling course and will offer the class each summer.
