Application for Admission to Master's Programs (and rank and certification in school counseling programs)

Application for Admission to Master's Programs (and rank and certification in school counseling programs)

The application process  is managed through your application to the graduate school for one of the programs offered (MA in Mental Health Counseling, MAED in School Counseling, Standard Certificate in School Counseling, or Rank I in School Counseling).

Please go to Graduate School and then click on the admission type that fits you on the left hand side of the page under Admissions.  Follow the instructions as you apply online.  Please note that counseling applicants are exempt from the entrance exam if you hold a previous Graduate degree or have a 3.0 Undergraduate GPA.
**Scores must be sent directly from the testing institution to the Graduate Office to be official.
Please also note- no waivers will occur until official transcripts are received by the Graduate School verifying the credentials.

As soon as all of the required materials are received, you will be reviewed for admission. The final step in the admission process is to attend an in person interview for admission.

The interview is not required for applicants for the MAED in School Counseling who are currently working in a P-12 school as a teacher. Also, If you previously graduated with an EKU 48 hour MAED in School Counseling and you are applying for the Standard Certificate or Rank I in School Counseling you will only have to complete the graduate school application process and not submit the supporting documents requested or the interview. Additionally, if you completed the MAED in School Counseling (48 hour) or the MA in Mental Health Counseling (60 hour) degree program previously at EKU and are now requesting admission into a second master's degree program in counseling in the other area, you will not have to complete the supporting information or the interview.

However, if you are transferring into EKU from another university or from our old EKU 36 hour School Counseling program you will still need to complete the writing sample, the resume, submit the 3 letters of reference, and the interview

Thank you for your interest in our programs and if you have any questions you may contact the Department office at COUoffice@eku.edu; the Department Chair, Dr. Ken Engebretson at Ken.Engebretson@eku.edu; or the Graduate Program Coordinator, Dr. Kim Naugle at kim.naugle@eku.edu.”
